House in Travessa do Patrocínio Surrounded by 4500 Living Plants

Lisbon Street boasts a sustainable house dotted with about 4,500 plants, creating a different aroma at each level of the residence. „In the reception and social areas you smell rosemary; in the bedroom, lavender and in the rooftop swimming-pool, saffron.“ After the renovation, the old building got a new touch in the form of a unique house and a vertical garden. We think that such architecture will become not only a pleasant place to live, but also a remarkable building that is guaranteed to remain in your memory. „Although it does not blend with the surrounding architecture, its remarkable contemporary aspect successfully manages not to strike a wrong note.“
The three-storey house surrounded not only by plants but also by concrete and steel is connected inside by a longitudinal wooden staircase starting in the technical part on the ground floor, leading to the very top. The private part is located on the first floor while the common rooms are situated on the second floor in a similar interior design of simplicity. The best part of the whole house, apart from bushy plants, is probably the highest terrace with a narrow swimming pool where the owners can draw energy from the sun’s rays. „Anyone swimming in that pool feels that it extends over and merges with the silhouette of the houses on Lisbon’s horizon, giving the sensation that one is swimming along the city’s skyline.“
