The Aculco: Minimalist Den Nestled in Mexican Forest

The Aculco is a minimalist holiday house where the owner is one step from the bedroom to an outdoor forest full of fresh air. The idea came from two brothers who found a place in the Mexican village of Aculco and gradually reforested it, then left the design of the house to Pérez Palacios Arquitectos. A literally raw building that breathes immense simplicity is a perfect example that you can live for a while in a smaller, but stylish house with minimal impact on the environment. „The house is made of block walls of quarry stone from the area, clay floors, wood and glass.“ The interior of 90 m2 is also in a simple style where the fireplace separates the bedroom from the living room and the bathroom can be found behind a modest kitchenette. The construction of a stony oasis seems to be united in a forest environment and draws the sun’s rays through panoramic windows on each side of the house. „We went for simplicity, minimal need of maintenace, and intimacy with the panorama and the land.“
